On Thursday, 21st August, 47-year-old assistant director Diego Borella tragically collapsed and died while getting ready for a final scene inside the Hotel Danieli in Venice. Doctors believe he had a rapid heart attack, but despite prompt medical assistance, he was declared dead at the site. Respected Venetian artist Borella, who received instruction in Rome, London, and New York, contributed both technical proficiency and creative vision to the work. After Borella's tragic death, there was definitely a sad atmosphere on the Venice set.

On 22nd August, at approximately 7:00 PM local time, assistant director Diego Borella sadly passed out while working on a scene for 'Emily in Paris' Season 5 at the Hotel Danieli in Venice. He was declared dead at the spot despite attempt to revive him and on-site medical assistance. La Repubblica was told by a local physician that a sudden heart attack was most likely the cause.
