FKA Twigs Cast as Mother of Jesus in Upcoming Horror Film

FKA Twigs is set to portray the mother of Jesus in a new horror film alongside actors Nicolas Cage and Noah Jupe, according to Deadline. Titled ‘The Carpenter’s Son,’ the movie delves into the dark story of a family hiding out in Roman Egypt, with Twigs playing “the Mother,” Cage as “the Carpenter,” and Jupe as “the Boy.” The film is written and directed by Lotfy Nathan, known for his debut feature ‘Harka,’ which premiered at Cannes in 2022.

The official synopsis of the film describes a narrative centred on “the Boy” who, influenced by another mysterious child, rebels against his guardian, revealing unforeseen powers and a destiny beyond comprehension. As the family faces both natural and divine horrors, they become targets of sinister forces.

In addition to her role in ‘The Carpenter’s Son,’ Twigs is set to star in another horror film, the remake of ‘The Crow,’ this summer.  The British singer-songwriter, whose real name is Tahliah Barnett, recently revealed plans to introduce an AI version of herself, named ‘AI Twigs,’ to maintain an online presence while focusing on her music. 

In a testimony presented to the Senate Judiciary Subcommittee on Intellectual Property, Twigs emphasized the importance of regulating AI technologies to protect the creative and intellectual rights of artists and public figures, highlighting the potential risks of unauthorized use of AI-generated content.
