Gal Gadot Speaks Out on Film’s Struggles
Gal Gadot, who played the Evil Queen in Disney's live-action 'Snow White,' recently talked candidly about the film's poor box office performance in an interview on Israeli television. Gadot stated that she thought political tensions contributed to the film's failure, particularly the pressure on celebrities to openly criticize Israel.

Gadot noted that her identification as an Israeli actress might have contributed to the film's difficulties, notably mentioning the tense environment in Hollywood after the Israel-Hamas conflict. She also mentioned how the film's reception was made more difficult by the controversy surrounding her co-star Rachel Zegler, who had made remarks in favour of Palestine. 'It was meant to be a hit,' Gadot said during the interview. 'But there’s pressure now—especially on Israelis in Hollywood—to take a political stance. That hurt us.'
Later Clarification Softens Stance
Gadot clarified her remarks on Instagram after they made headlines. She claimed that her previous comments were made 'from an emotional place' and weren't intended to fully attribute the success of the movie to politics. 'I recognize now that many factors contribute to a film’s success or failure,' she wrote. 'I was speaking from a place of personal pain and frustration, not as a filmmaker analysing data.'

The movie was a box office failure, earning just about $205 million worldwide on a projected budget of $240 million. The film's failure was attributed to a number of factors by both critics and viewers, including subpar CGI, inadequate narrative, and disputed pre-release publicity.
Lastly, Gadot refuted reports of on-set turmoil by stating that she enjoyed working with Zegler despite the stress. 'Rachel and I had a great time filming. The media created a narrative that wasn't true,' she said.
