George Clooney Claims Matthew Perry “Wasn’t Happy” While Filming ‘Friends’

George Clooney revealed some news about his late mate. George let slip that Matthew Perry, renowned for his antics in ‘Friends,’ wasn’t exactly living the high life during his days on the telly sensation.

George claimed, “He wasn’t happy. It didn’t bring him joy or happiness or peace.” The actor went on, “He would say to us… ‘I just want to get on a sitcom, man. I just want to get on a regular sitcom and I would be the happiest man on earth.’ And he got on probably one of the best ever.”

George, who had been chums with Matthew Perry since their teens and shared the Warner Brothers stage during ‘ER’ and ‘Friends,’ found it quite a tough watch seeing Matthew wrestle with his demons. Clooney said, “Watching that go on on the lot — we were at Warner Brothers, we were there right next to each other — it was hard to watch because we didn’t know what was going through him,” he went on.

“We just knew that he wasn’t happy and I had no idea he was doing what, 12 Vicodin a day and all the stuff he talked about, all that heartbreaking stuff.”

George’s bromance with Matthew Perry George made it clear that all the glitz and glamour didn’t add up to a happy Matthew, underscoring the need to find contentment within oneself and one’s life. He also reminisced about their friendship, recalling, “I knew Matt when he was 16 years old. We used to play paddle tennis together,” he chatted.

“He’s about 10 years younger than me. And he was a great, funny, funny, funny kid.” On the topic of ‘Friends,’ George got a bit sentimental, “And Friends, man, that was a fun time to watch those guys, we were all really close.”
