The teaser trailer for Glen Powell's outrageous six-part sports comedy 'Chad Powers' was recently released on Hulu on 30th August. Russ Holliday, a former collegiate football standout whose career collapsed because of a disastrous error, is the subject of the series. In a desperate attempt to turn his life around, he transforms into Chad Powers, replete with outrageous prosthetics and a wig, so he can join a struggling Southern college football team without being noticed.

Powell and Michael Waldron (of 'Loki' fame) co-created and executive produced the show, which is based on a hilarious Eli Manning prank and has the Mannings as executive producers. The teaser establishes the mood for what is expected to be one of the most outrageous releases of 2025.
Prosthetics, Pranks & Plenty of Football Fumbles
Powell's whole disguise, complete with extensive prosthetics (think huge nose, false teeth, mustache, and shaggy wig) as he changes into Chad Powers, is glimpsed in the short but unforgettable teaser. He struggles with his own mask as he enters the football pitch, for example, and we see terrifyingly funny moments.

The sentence that most captures the ridiculousness of the notion is when Coach Jake Hudson (Steve Zahn) says, "I like you, Powers, but you are a puzzle." When Russ, disguised, remarks, "Russ was an a‑hole, Chad doesn't have to be," there is unadulterated humor that suggests both self-awareness and humorous struggle. Its premise—creating an identity to gain another chance at life—is a sly homage to Mrs. Doubtfire that is sure to make people giggle.

Eli Manning's 2022 episode of Eli's Places, in which the former NFL quarterback wore prosthetics to sign on at Penn State under the alias "Chad Powers," served as the inspiration for 'Chad Powers.' This Hulu dramatization of the hilarious act, which went viral, continues the tradition, but this time Glen Powell dons the disguise. Eight years after Russ Holliday's demise, the story resumes, fusing witty humor with themes of identity, rebirth, and second chances.
Steve Zahn as Coach Hudson, Perry Mattfeld as Ricky, Quentin Plair as Coach Byrd, Wynn Everett as Tricia Yeager, and Frankie A. Rodriguez as Danny are just a few of the talented members of the cast. Glen Powell, Michael Waldron, and the Manning brothers are listed as executive producers. The series premieres on Hulu and Hulu on Disney+ on 30th September, launching with two episodes and followed by weekly installments on every Tuesday.
