‘Heartstopper’ Season 3: Olivia Colman Will Not Return to The Series

Shortly after Netflix revealed the highly anticipated premiere date for Season 3 of the beloved teen drama ‘Heartstopper’, actress Olivia Colman made a heartfelt announcement. She confirmed that due to a scheduling conflict, she would not be able to reprise her role in the upcoming season of the series.

In an interview with Forbes, Colman expressed her regret, stating, “I couldn’t do number three. I couldn’t fit it in. I feel awful about that.” She went on to share that her experience working on ‘Heartstopper’ was incredibly meaningful, describing it as “one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever been part of.”

Despite her departure from the main series, Colman hinted at the possibility of returning to the ‘Heartstopper’ universe in other capacities. She mentioned the potential for a spinoff series centred around her character, Sarah Nelson, or even a return for Season 4.

The news of Colman’s absence comes just after Netflix’s announcement of Season 3’s premiere in October. This reveal came over a year after the conclusion of Season 2, where fans were left on the edge of their seats as Charlie nearly confessed his love for Nick.

Accompanying the premiere date announcement was a sneak peek behind the scenes of Season 3, showcasing the cast filming scenes at a fair.  

The actors also teased what’s in store for their characters in the upcoming season. Kit Connor, who plays Nick, hinted at a steamier dynamic between Nick and Charlie, portrayed by Kedar Williams-Stirling, suggesting that fans are in for an exciting and emotional journey as the season progresses toward its finale.
