Here's Why Martin Scorsese Doesn’t Watch His Own Movies

Renowned filmmaker Martin Scorsese has shed light on his tendency to avoid watching his own films in cinemas. Despite recently unveiling his latest cinematic creation, 'Killers Of The Flower Moon,' the director confesses that he steers clear of surreptitious visits to screenings of his own works. His rationale? An acknowledgment of his stature: "I'm short, and there's always a big person in front of me," Scorsese revealed.

This aversion to traditional cinema experiences extends beyond his creations, encompassing Broadway shows as well. The perpetual hindrance of an obstructing figure dampens his enjoyment of live performances: "There's someone in front of me, and I can't see the stage or hear the show," he lamented.

As Scorsese gracefully ages, he has found solace in the immersive realm of IMAX. The allure lies in the ability to perch at the back, gazing upwards for an unobstructed view. Reflecting on conventional screenings, the director notes a shift in audience behaviour, deeming them "more raucous" than in the past.

Acknowledging the importance of supporting films on the big screen, he opts for patience, choosing to wait before indulging in the cinematic experience.
