‘Hoard’ Trailer: Watch Joseph Quinn and Saura Lightfoot-Leon in New Psychological Thriller

Joseph Quinn is solidifying his status as a rising star in the film industry with his latest role in the indie psychological thriller Hoard. Following his notable appearances in ‘A Quiet Place: Day One’ and his upcoming role in Marvel’s ‘The Fantastic Four’ alongside Pedro Pascal, Quinn takes centre stage in this intense new film.

The newly released trailer by Sunrise Films offers a glimpse into the complex and troubled world of Maria, a character whose life is marred by her mother’s severe hoarding issues. Set against the backdrop of 1984 London, the film delves into Maria’s challenging upbringing, marked by her mother’s mental illness and the resulting trauma.

The story follows Maria’s tumultuous childhood and the pivotal moment when her world unravels, propelling her into a troubled adolescence. Years later, living with her foster mother, Maria’s past resurfaces when a mysterious stranger, played by Quinn, arrives on her doorstep.

The official synopsis of Hoard describes it as follows: “The film traces the life of young Maria (portrayed by Lily-Beau Leach) as she contends with her mother’s obsessive hoarding in 1984 London. After a life-changing event, Maria’s story jumps forward a decade, showcasing her struggles as a teenager (played by Saura Lightfoot-Leon) who must confront her past when a stranger (Joseph Quinn) appears in her life.”

Directed and written by Luna Carmoon, ‘Hoard’ also features performances by Deba Hekmat, Hayley Squires, and Samantha Spiro. The film premiered at the Venice International Film Festival, where it garnered significant acclaim, winning three awards including Best Directing and Screenwriting for Directors Under 40, the Film Club Audience Award, and the Verona Film Club Award. It also had screenings at other notable festivals such as the BFI London Film Festival, Athens, Mumbai, and Goteborg.

In addition to Hoard, Joseph Quinn will be seen in Bret Easton Ellis’ directorial debut, Relapse. In this film, Quinn plays a man grappling with existential questions after witnessing a brutal death at a drug party and undergoing a crisis during rehab. Ellis, renowned for his works like ‘American Psycho’ and ‘The Rules of Attraction’, will also adapt his novel The Shards into an HBO series.
