‘House of Dragon’: Olivia Cooke Says She’s Disappointed Over Cut “Animalistic” Intimate Scene

While ‘Game of Thrones’ fans are no strangers to explicit scenes, Olivia Cooke recently revealed her disappointment over a particularly graphic scene being cut from the ‘House of the Dragon’ spinoff series.

Cooke, who portrays Alicent Hightower in ‘House of The Dragon’, shared that she filmed an “animalistic” s*x scene that ultimately did not make it to the final cut of the show. “It was messy as f—. It wasn’t beautiful, and that was really fun to do,” she told Elle, describing the raw, “carnal” nature of the scene. “I think Ryan [Condal, the showrunner] said we weren’t learning any more about the characters, which I disagree with slightly, but it’s okay. It’s his show.”

As the series progresses into Season 2, viewers will witness the Targaryens descending into the civil war detailed in George R.R. Martin’s Fire & Blood novel. With the “Greens” holding the Iron Throne and the “Blacks” vying for it, tensions are high.

The season picks up after the heartbreaking events of the Season 1 finale, where Rhaenyra’s (Emma D’Arcy) son, Lucerys (Elliot Grihault), and his dragon were killed by Aemond (Ewan Mitchell). This loss ignites Rhaenyra’s fury, already fueled by her half-brother Aegon’s (Tom Glynn-Carney) wrongful ascension to the throne after King Viserys’ (Paddy Considine) death.

Season 2 of ‘House of the Dragon’ began with a dramatic twist as Daemon Targaryen (Matt Smith), Rhaenyra’s husband and uncle, orchestrates the killing of Aemond, heir to the Iron Throne. This shocking event raises the stakes even higher.

When asked if his character Aegon would seek vengeance following the death of his son, Jaehaerys Targaryen, Glynn-Carney told a magazine, “Look, when something as tragic as a tragic thing happens, it leaves a stain on a human being to the point of probably no return.” He continued, “It’s a dangerous thing to happen to a very vulnerable and fragile and volatile human being.”
