Hugh Jackman on Working With Ryan Reynolds And Shawn Levy: “Three Amigos”

Hugh Jackman recently opened up about stepping back into the shoes of Logan Howlett, aka Wolverine, for Marvel Studios’ first R-rated film. This time, he’s joined by his old friend Ryan Reynolds, who returns as Deadpool and director Shawn Levy. The excitement among fans has been palpable since the trailer for the ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ movie dropped earlier this year.

In an interview with Vanity Fair, Jackman expressed his delight at reuniting with Reynolds and Levy for this superhero adventure. Both actors are reprising their roles as Wolverine and Deadpool, characters they’ve become synonymous with over the years. Jackman revealed that this project allowed him to explore new facets of Wolverine’s character. He described the experience as fresh and exciting, noting that everything from the emotions and humour to the dialogue and action felt new compared to his previous portrayals.

Jackman also shared how working with Reynolds and Levy felt like a reunion of “the Three Amigos,” highlighting the joy and laughter they brought to the set. He mentioned there wasn’t a single day without laughter and how rejuvenated he felt playing Wolverine again. This sentiment was echoed by director Shawn Levy, who praised Jackman’s performance for bringing a gravitas and raw, soulful quality to the film that sets it apart from previous ‘X-Men’ and ‘Deadpool’ movies.

Levy hinted that the film’s unique dynamic stems from Wolverine’s interactions with Deadpool’s comedic energy, transforming the overall tone and experience of the project. The synopsis of the film suggests that Wolverine, recovering from injuries, teams up with the loudmouth mercenary Deadpool to take down a common enemy.
