Idris Elba is once again fueling speculation that he could be the next James Bond, and this time, his wife, Sabrina Elba, helped spark the conversation.

The 53-year-old actor sent fans into a frenzy after sharing a TikTok video of himself standing among wax figures of past 007 stars. The figures included Pierce Brosnan, Daniel Craig, Sean Connery, George Lazenby, Roger Moore and Timothy Dalton. Elba paired the clip with the iconic James Bond theme and joked in the caption that his wife made him do it. The video quickly went viral, racking up more than 6.9 million views after being posted on 19th December.

Sabrina, 36, later addressed the buzz while appearing on 'Good Morning America' recently, where she was promoting the couple's skincare brand, S'ABLE Labs. She admitted she may have reignited the Bond rumours and said she simply thought the video would be funny, adding that Idris Elba looked great standing alongside the legendary Bond lineup.

When asked why Bond producers have not officially cast him in the role yet, Sabrina made it clear she was fully on board and agreed he would be a perfect choice.

Idris Elba's Wax Figure at Madame Tussauds

Elba’s Bond-inspired moment came shortly after he was honoured with his own wax figure at Madame Tussauds in London, which was unveiled on 19th December.

While he has long been considered a fan-favourite to replace Daniel Craig following 2021's 'No Time to Die,' Idris Elba previously shared that the intense debate around his potential casting became discouraging. In a 2023 interview, he explained that criticism rooted in race took much of the joy out of the conversation and placed the focus on negativity rather than the role itself.

Update on Next Bond Movie

Meanwhile, the Bond franchise is moving forward behind the scenes. Earlier this year, Amazon MGM Studios announced that Denis Villeneuve will direct the 26th James Bond film. The movie does not yet have a release date, and casting has not begun. A report in September noted that Villeneuve and the Bond producers plan to search for a fresh face to take on the iconic role once the director completes work on 'Dune: Part Three.'

For now, Idris Elba's playful video—and his wife's enthusiastic support—have once again put his name firmly back in the Bond conversation.
