James Gunn Announces 'Man of Tomorrow'—Superman Returns to the Big Screen in July 2027

The official title of the sequel to the successful 2025 movie is 'Man of Tomorrow,' and its confirmed release date is 9th July, 2027. Despite not being called "Superman 2," Gunn's most recent film is strongly rooted in his developing 'Superman Saga,' promising both old favorites and exciting new paths for the Man of Steel.

A Bold New Chapter in the Superman Saga

Less than two years have passed since the success of the 'Superman' reboot, which brought in over $611 million worldwide and was one of the highest-grossing superhero movies of 2025. Gunn made the announcement on 3rd September, through his official social media handle, sharing a powerful Jim Lee illustration along with the title and release date.

The artwork depicts Superman standing next to Lex Luthor, who is now wearing his signature purple-and-green Warsuit, indicating a much more intense and physical altercation. Crucially, Gunn explained that although while Superman is a major character, the movie shouldn't be seen as a straight-forward sequel; in fact, he's referring to it as a part of a larger, more comprehensive 'Superman Saga.'
