Even though Jamie Lee Curtis delivered an Oscar-winning performance in 'Everything Everywhere All at Once' (2022), she admits she didn't understand the script at all when she first read it. In a May interview with 60 Minutes, the 67-year-old actress revealed that not a single part of the plot made sense to her initially.

Plot Was Confusing, Character Clear

The film tells the story of a Chinese-American immigrant laundromat owner who, while being audited by the IRS, discovers she must connect with parallel-universe versions of herself. Despite the complex storyline, Jamie Lee Curtis says she immediately understood her character, IRS auditor Deirdre Beaubeirdre. She explained that Deirdre is a woman who is unloved and uses her job to control others because she lacks love in her own life. The role earned Jamie Lee Curtis both a BAFTA and Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actress.
