Gordon Ramsay is opening up about his personal life like never before in his new Netflix docuseries, 'Being Gordon Ramsay.'

In an interview with People ahead of the premiere, the famous chef and father of six said he wanted the show to reveal more than the polished image viewers see on programs like MasterChef. He explained that he aimed to show the other side of himself, a side that has not been properly explored on television before. Instead of something overly polished or staged, he wanted it to feel real and unscripted, even if that meant cameras catching him in his pyjamas.

What is 'Being Gordon Ramsay' About?

The six-part series, which premieres on 18th February, follows Ramsay at home with his family and at work as he launches five new culinary concepts inside 22 Bishopsgate, one of London's tallest buildings. He admitted that the ambitious project was a huge undertaking, especially since his wife, Tana Ramsay, was not initially thrilled about the idea. Still, he said he loves a challenge and noted that opportunities to open restaurants at landmark locations like this only come around once every decade.

Gordon Ramsay shared that he thrives under pressure and is driven by the pursuit of perfection. He believes he could not have taken on a project of this scale ten years ago without the two decades of experience he has built in the industry.

'Being Gordon Ramsay' Explores Family Life

The series also highlights his close-knit family. Gordon and Tana are parents to six children: Megan, twins Holly and Jack, Tilly, Oscar and Jesse. Viewers see the older siblings spending time with the younger boys, including Oscar, who often steals the spotlight. Ramsay joked that Oscar and Jesse have the most exciting babysitters thanks to their older brothers and sisters.

Family time is important to the Ramsays, especially their Sunday lunches together. Gordon Ramsay said the two youngest children love having all their siblings around the table. Conversations range from world events to Oscar's school reports, his Kumon lessons and even his progress counting to 25 in French. He described the family dynamic as lively and special.

Another key storyline follows Tilly as she pursues a career in the culinary world. Ramsay said he is proud of her decision, especially in an industry where he feels there are still not enough women in top chef roles. He criticised outdated attitudes that limit women’s opportunities in professional kitchens and made it clear he strongly disagrees with that mindset.

He also admitted he has always been careful not to pressure his children into joining the family business. In his view, a career in food and restaurants is something a person truly has to want. He said Tilly was determined and pushed hard to follow that path.

To avoid special treatment, Tilly chose to attend culinary school in Ireland rather than train under her father. Gordon Ramsay praised her for forging her own path and said having one of his six children choose to become a chef has made his entire year.
