Jenna Fischer has disputed the common view that the US version of ‘The Office’ declined in quality after Steve Carell left. Fischer, who played Pam Beesly in 188 of the 201 episodes of the popular NBC comedy, revisited the entire series and shared her reflections on the ‘Office Ladies’ podcast. She told Dana Carvey and David Spade on their ‘Fly On The Wall’ podcast that her biggest takeaway from rewatching the series was that it remained consistently good throughout its run.

Addressing the belief that the show peaked around seasons three or four and that the seasons after Carell’s departure in season seven were weaker, Fischer explained that this was a common perception among the cast and creators. However, after watching everything, she found that some of her favourite episodes were from seasons eight and nine, proving that the show still had strong storylines.

When asked about her favourite era, Fischer said it was seasons four through six, highlighting the season four episode ‘Dinner Party’ as a personal favourite.

‘The Office’ Spin-Off ‘The Paper’ Announced, Oscar Nuñez to Return

Though ‘The Office’ ended in 2013, it continues to be popular due to re-runs and streaming. Last year, Peacock announced a spin-off called ‘The Paper’, focusing on a struggling Midwestern newspaper and its publisher trying to revive it with the help of volunteer reporters. The show is set in the same universe as ‘The Office’ and stars Domhnall Gleeson and Sabrina Impacciatore.

The official logline, describes the documentary crew from the original series searching for a new subject and discovering the historic newspaper.

Recently, it was reported that ‘The Office’ actor Oscar Nuñez will return as Oscar Martinez in the upcoming Peacock series. Meanwhile, Rashida Jones reflected on her time on the show, saying she believed some fans did not warm to her character.
