Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck Set to Divorce After Two Years

Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck are reportedly set to file for divorce after two years of marriage. Sources close to the singer and the Gone Girl actor say the couple have finalised the documents following a last attempt to save their relationship.

This news surfaced after Affleck purchased a new $20.5 million mansion in Pacific Palisades on Wednesday, July 24, coinciding with Lopez’s 55th birthday. Just days prior, the couple had listed their Beverly Hills home for $68 million. July 24 was also notable as Lopez finalised the sale of her four-bedroom New York City penthouse for $23 million, according to People.

“They finalised the divorce papers a month ago but are waiting for the right moment to announce it,” a source told DailyMail.com. “When they do, they’ll release a joint statement expressing their love for each other and their efforts to make it work, but acknowledging that they couldn’t.”

Another insider added, “In the end, they couldn’t reach a compromise. What they had before is gone, and they’ve both come to terms with it.” The pair were last seen together on March 30 and reportedly spent their second wedding anniversary on July 16 in different cities.

Rumours of a potential divorce began when it was reported that Affleck had moved into a $100,000 rental and the couple intended to sell their “dream home”.

In May, Lopez responded to a journalist’s question about the divorce rumours during a press conference for her Netflix film Atlas. When asked if the divorce was real, Lopez leaned into the microphone and reminded the reporter that they should “know better than that.”

This marks the second time Lopez and Affleck have separated. They were first engaged in 2002 before splitting in 2004. They rekindled their relationship in 2022 and their journey was partially documented in Lopez’s film, ‘The Greatest Love Story Never Told.’
