Jennifer Lopez is addressing the growing Oscar chatter surrounding her upcoming movie musical 'Kiss of the Spider Woman'—and she's taking it all in stride.
In a recent interview with CBS Sunday Morning, the 56-year-old actress and singer reflected on how she views awards expectations at this stage of her career. She explained that past experiences taught her not to place too much weight on nominations or accolades, choosing instead to focus on the joy of creating work that resonates with audiences. Lopez emphasised that recognition is rewarding, but the process of performing and connecting with viewers remains the most meaningful part of her journey.

Jennifer Lopez Values Awards and Honours
That doesn’t mean Jennifer Lopez dismisses the value of industry honours. She admitted that, like most artists, she would be grateful to accept an Oscar if it came her way, but she no longer feels she needs the validation in the same way she once did earlier in her career.
The conversation naturally turned to her acclaimed performance in the 2019 drama 'Hustlers,' which many expected would land her an Academy Award nomination. Despite critical praise and a Golden Globe nod, the Oscar recognition never came. Jennifer Lopez later revealed in her 2022 Netflix documentary 'Halftime' that she had allowed herself to believe a nomination was likely, only to be disappointed when it didn’t happen.

Jennifer Lopez and 'Kiss of the Spider Woman'
Now, with 'Kiss of the Spider Woman,' Lopez is returning with what critics have already described as her most buzzed-about role since 'Hustlers.' Written and directed by Bill Condon (Chicago), the film adapts Manuel Puig's 1976 novel and the Tony Award–winning Broadway musical. Jennifer Lopez stars as Ingrid Luna, a glamorous silver screen diva, opposite Diego Luna and Tonatiuh. The project also marks her first-ever role in a movie musical.
PEOPLE confirmed that Lopez will be submitted in the Best Supporting Actress category this awards season, fueling speculation that her long-awaited Oscar recognition could finally be within reach.
