Jennifer Lopez Shines Solo at ‘Atlas’ Premiere Amid Ben Affleck Rumours

Jennifer Lopez made a solo appearance to support her latest film, ‘Atlas’, in Los Angeles. Amid reports of marital tension with Ben Affleck, the 54-year-old actress and singer posed on the red carpet at the Egyptian Theatre in Hollywood, showcasing her Netflix sci-fi action film. Notably, she was wearing her wedding ring.

Lopez shared an Instagram Reel featuring her smiling at photographers as she walked the red carpet. Ben Affleck, 51, was absent from the event as he is currently filming ‘The Accountant 2’.

Lopez and Affleck, who married in 2022 after rekindling their relationship two decades after their initial engagement, are reportedly living separately in Los Angeles. Despite ongoing reports of tension, the couple was photographed smiling together over the weekend and have continued to wear their wedding rings publicly. Sources have told PEOPLE that their relationship is strained.

“They just have very different approaches when it comes to media attention,” one insider said. “Ben hates all attention and it makes him very uncomfortable. Jennifer has always had a different approach.”

In ‘Atlas’, Lopez portrays Atlas Shepherd, as “a brilliant but misanthropic data analyst with a deep distrust of artificial intelligence.” She joins a mission to capture a renegade robot with whom she shares a mysterious past, finding that her only hope to save humanity from AI is to trust it. 

Directed by Brad Peyton and written by Leo Sardarian and Aron Eli Coleite, ‘Atlas’ features an ensemble cast including Simu Liu, Sterling K. Brown, Gregory James Cohan, Abraham Popoola, Lana Parrilla, and Mark Strong.

In a behind-the-scenes video shared exclusively with PEOPLE on 14th May, Lopez, who also co-produced the film, expressed her deep connection to the story. “The first time I read the script for ‘Atlas’, I felt very passionately about the story and particularly the friendship story at the core of it,” she said. “At the end of it, I was literally sobbing.”

Lopez described the film as a big action movie with an emotional core centred around love and friendship. ‘Atlas’ will be available on Netflix starting 24th May.
