Jeremy Renner Works Out in His Basement With Massive Dumbbells

53-year-old actor Jeremy Renner showcased his commitment to fitness in a recent Instagram Story. The photo captured Renner, clad in a grey cap, shirt and shorts, lifting two substantial dumbbells in his basement gym, emphasizing his mantra, “Putting in the work … One way street here, get better every day.”

This display of resilience comes nearly 14 months after Renner’s life-threatening snowplough accident, which resulted in over 30 broken bones and multiple surgeries. Since the incident on 1st January 2023, Renner has been consistently sharing updates on his physical therapy and recovery journey on Instagram.

In March of the previous year, he posted a video of himself walking on a treadmill, showcasing progress. A month later, Renner shared another video, this time working out with dumbbells, inspired by encouragement from his 10-year-old daughter, Ava Berlin Renner. By May, he happily announced that he could walk without a walker.

Welcoming the new year, Renner returned to the set of ‘Mayor of Kingstown’ for its third season. Speaking to PEOPLE, he expressed mixed emotions about the return to work, saying, “I don’t know if I’m looking forward to it. Again, I try to just do everything kind of step by step here. That’s one foot in front of the other one. Then you’re walking, I think I’m excited when I’m there and I get in a rhythm there.” 

Renner admitted to feeling tentative but expressed excitement about the character, storyline and working with the people involved.

Last month, Jeremy Renner surprised fans with an appearance at the 2024 People’s Choice Awards, where he confidently announced the winner while reflecting on the challenges of the past year. Renner shared, “Gotta say, it feels good to be back. This year’s been a heck of a journey, and I’m happy to be here with you, the fans.”
