‘Joker: Folie à Deux’ Poster Drops, First Trailer to Release Soon

Lady Gaga and director Todd Phillips are offering fans a fresh glimpse into the world of ‘Joker: Folie á Deux.’

Taking to Instagram on Tuesday, both Gaga and Phillips unveiled a new poster for the sequel to 2019’s Joker, along with the exciting news that the first trailer will debut on Tuesday, April 9.

“The world is a stage,” remarked the pop star and actress in her caption, accompanied by the trailer release date and a playing card emoji. The poster features Gaga and co-star Joaquin Phoenix donning clown makeup as they engage in a dance.

Gaga and Phillips, who previously directed Phoenix as Arthur Fleck, also known as the Joker, in 2019’s ‘Joker,’ have been teasing fans with images and sneak peeks of the sequel for several months. Phillips recently treated fans to new images of the duo on Instagram in February, coinciding with Valentine’s Day.

Phoenix is set to reprise his iconic role as the Joker in the sequel, slated for release exactly five years after the original Joker hit theatres in 2019. Meanwhile, Gaga is expected to portray Dr. Harleen Quinzel, better known as Harley Quinn, a character famously portrayed by Margot Robbie in various DC Studios movies.

The 2019 ‘Joker’ shattered box-office records upon its release, earning Phoenix his first Academy Award for his outstanding performance. Phillips officially confirmed his plans to develop a sequel to the film in June 2022.

That same month, PEOPLE confirmed Gaga’s involvement in talks to play Harley Quinn. Gaga later confirmed her casting in the film by sharing an animated video of her and Phoenix’s silhouettes set to music on social media in August 2022.

‘Joker: Folie á Deux’ is set to hit cinemas on 4th October.
