Jon Bon Jovi on Being Friends With Paul McCartney: “I’m Sitting Here With a F—ing Beatle”

The rock icon recently opened up about his friendship with Paul McCartney in a new interview with a Magazine, revealing they hang out quite often—a surreal experience for Bon Jovi as a longtime Beatles fan. During the interview, Bon Jovi showed John Colapinto a photo of himself and the ‘Let It Be’ singer enjoying lunch at his home.

He shared, “We do this all summer,” expressing his amazement at the situation, saying, “I’m sitting there with a Beatle.” He explained that McCartney often visits his house, he visits McCartney’s beach house, and their wives are very close.

Bon Jovi also expressed admiration for McCartney’s continued passion for creating new music after more than half a century of hits. He recalled McCartney excitedly sharing, “Oh, I’ve got new stuff!” and marvelled at his enthusiasm and productivity at his age.

Bon Jovi presented McCartney with balloons while singing “Happy Birthday,” and later returned to the stage with Springsteen to perform ‘The End’ from the Beatles’ Abbey Road album.

Upon receiving the MusiCares Person of the Year honour earlier this year, Bon Jovi took a moment to thank the former Beatle, who was in attendance at the ceremony at the Los Angeles Convention Center.

He acknowledged McCartney’s influence, saying, “I have to give a shout-out to a past recipient of this award, Sir Paul McCartney. The reason most, if not all, of us are in this room tonight is because of you, so thank you very much for being beautiful.”
