Joseph Quinn Says Lupita Nyong’o Was Very Supportive of Him Joining The MCU

Lupita Nyong’o, celebrated for her role in ‘Black Panther,’ is set to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s ‘Fantastic Four.’ Meanwhile, Joseph Quinn, known for his performance in ‘Stranger Things,’ shared insights with PEOPLE about collaborating with Nyong’o on’ A Quiet Place: Day One’ and his upcoming MCU debut.

In the ‘Fantastic Four’ film, slated for release in 2025, Quinn, 30, will take on the role of Johnny Storm, aka The Human Torch. Nyong’o, 41, has portrayed Nakia in the Black Panther movies. Quinn revealed that Nyong’o had been incredibly supportive, assuring him he’d have a fantastic time. He found her encouragement invaluable, given her experience and fond memories of working within the Marvel universe.

Disney announced the ‘Fantastic Four’ cast in February, featuring Quinn alongside Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic, Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm/Invisible Woman, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm/The Thing.

This adaptation will be the third cinematic version of the beloved comic series. Previous iterations hit theatres in 2015 and 2005, featuring actors like Miles Teller, Kate Mara, Michael B. Jordan, Jamie Bell, Ioan Gruffudd, Chris Evans, and Michael Chiklis. Quinn acknowledged the talent of the former cast, noting that his goal was to bring a fresh yet authentic interpretation to his character.

Nyong’o mentioned she had not met Quinn before working on ‘A Quiet Place: Day One’ but was impressed by his captivating performance as Eddie Munson in Stranger Things season four. She admired his dedication and strong work ethic during filming.

Nyong’o added that their collaboration felt fresh and dynamic, with each take bringing something new to the table. She enjoyed the synergy they shared on set, highlighting their effective teamwork throughout the shoot.
