Kate Winslet Was Told to “Hide Belly Rolls” on Set of Upcoming Film ‘Lee’

In a recent interview with Harper’s Bazaar, Kate Winslet revealed that she was advised to hide her “belly rolls” while filming a scene for her upcoming film ‘Lee.’ The Titanic star, known for her strong stance on body positivity, shared that a crew member suggested she sit up straighter during a scene where she appears in a bikini, presumably to avoid showing any signs of a less-than-flat stomach.

“There’s a bit where Lee’s sitting on a bench in a bikini,” Winslet explained. “And one of the crew came up between takes and said, ‘You might want to sit up straighter’. So you can’t see my belly rolls? Not on your life! It was deliberate, you know?”

‘Lee’ is a biographical film in which Winslet plays the legendary World War II photographer Lee Miller. The film, which also stars Marion Cotillard, Andrea Riseborough, Andy Samberg, and Alexander Skarsgård, is set to be released in cinemas this September.

When asked about appearing “less than perfect” on screen, Winslet confidently responded, “The opposite. I take pride in it because it is my life on my face, and that matters. It wouldn’t occur to me to cover that up.”

Winslet further expressed that she’s grown more comfortable in her skin as she’s aged. “I think people know better than to say, ‘You might wanna do something about those wrinkles’. I’m more comfortable in myself as each year passes. It enables me to allow the opinions of others to evaporate.”
