Katy Perry Gives Behind-The-Scenes Look at ‘Woman’s World’ Video

Katy Perry gave her fans an exclusive peek behind the scenes of her latest music video, ‘Woman’s World’, in a new Instagram reel. Sporting a red Rosie the Riveter-inspired headscarf, an orange crop top reminiscent of a construction worker’s attire, and denim shorts paired with a tool belt, Perry surrounded herself with dancers dressed in similar empowering outfits.
In character, Perry playfully delivered phrases of female empowerment to the camera, including “Girlboss s—,” “You go girl!” and “You were born to shine!” She then elaborated on the project’s meaning, explaining the scene being filmed at that moment. “We’re kind of just having fun, being a bit sarcastic with it,” the “Firework” singer said. “It’s very slapstick and very on the nose.”

Describing the first set of the music video, Perry highlighted the playful irony of the dancers portraying an exaggerated response to the male gaze. “We’re not about the male gaze, but we really are about the male gaze,” she quipped, emphasising the scene’s intentional over-the-top portrayal. Perry further detailed a scene where she gets “smashed” by a piece of metal in the video, which symbolises a “reset” for her character’s perception of feminine divinity.
“The song is the first single from her upcoming sixth studio album, 143, set to release on Sept. 20,” she announced in a statement on July 10, expressing her goal to create a vibrant and celebratory dance-pop album with love as its central theme.
