Katy Perry’s Daughter Daisy Sparks Inspiration For New Single ‘Lifetimes’

The pop sensation Katy Perry has unveiled exciting news about her forthcoming single ‘Lifetimes’, the second track featured on her eagerly anticipated album ‘143’. This new single is set to make its debut alongside a brand-new music video. Perry took to social media to announce the release, sharing the cover artwork for ‘Lifetimes’, which showcases a striking futuristic heart in shades of purple and red, adorned with clear liquid dripping from it. This visual also prominently features the title of her upcoming album, ‘143.
At a recent listening event for her album, Perry revealed to The Sun the heartfelt inspiration behind ‘Lifetimes’. She disclosed that the song is deeply personal and dedicated to her daughter, Daisy, who is just over three years old. Daisy, who she shares with her long-time fiancé Orlando Bloom, has been a profound influence on Perry’s music. The artist expressed how Daisy has become a soulmate figure in her life, stating, “It is funny how sometimes you’re looking for your soulmate in a partner. It could be a dog, your mum, your best friend, your cat… but for me it came in the form of Daisy,” confirming, “I wrote ‘Lifetimes’ about her.”

Perry also shared a touching anecdote that inspired the song’s title. She revealed that every night before bed, she tells Daisy, “I love you,” and then asks, “Will you find me in every lifetime?” to which Daisy always responds with a heartfelt “Yes.” This nightly ritual exemplifies the deep bond and enduring love between mother and daughter, which Perry captures in her new track.
Reflecting on her relationship with her daughter, Perry expressed how Daisy filled a void in her life, stating, “The love I was missing, every mountain I climbed looking for this view, all this love, it came to me when she entered my life.” This sentiment underscores the profound impact Daisy has had on Perry’s emotional and creative world.
Perry also gave fans a sneak peek of ‘Lifetimes’ during an interview with Apple Music’s Zane Lowe. She previewed some of the lyrics, which include, ‘I love you for, I love you for life / Lifetimes / I know you feel it, can you believe it? / I’m going to love you till the end and then repeat it’. This snippet offers a glimpse into the song’s heartfelt and enduring message.
In addition to her single announcement, Perry shared what fans can expect from her album ‘143’ when it drops. She described the album as a dance-pop project with a mix of styles. According to Perry, one-third of the album is dance-focused, another third remains true to her pop roots, and the final third features rhythmic elements. This insight reflects her creative vision for the album, which she had previously described as a “bold, exuberant, celebratory dance-pop album” with the symbolic number ‘143’ representing love throughout the project.
