Keanu Reeves Receives Inaugural Lance Reddick Legacy Award

Keanu Reeves received a unique honour at the 2024 Saturn Awards, taking home the inaugural Lance Reddick Legacy Award in Burbank, California. The 59-year-old Matrix actor was recognized for both his talent and character, with the award named after his late John Wick co-star, Lance Reddick, who passed away last March at 60 due to heart disease.

The award is a special tribute, symbolizing and celebrating not just the performer’s skill but also their character, according to a press release. The Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror Films hailed Reeves as a true goodwill ambassador in the industry.

In addition to being honoured, Reeves was also a nominee for the best actor in a film at the annual awards show. Following Reddick’s sudden death, Reeves and ‘John Wick: Chapter 4’ director dedicated the sequel to him, expressing deep sadness at the loss of their beloved friend and colleague.

Reddick had previously praised Reeves for his generosity as an actor, highlighting a memorable thank-you note Reeves gave him for his role in the John Wick series.

Reddick’s recent work also includes the Disney+ series ‘Percy Jackson and the Olympians’. The cast and crew, akin to the John Wick family, mourned the loss of Reddick, describing his portrayal of the god Zeus in the series as “perfect.” This marks another poignant moment in the late actor’s career, leaving a lasting impact on those who had the privilege of working with him.
