Kirsten Dunst has her eyes on a new kind of blockbuster. The actress revealed in her September 2025 Town & Country cover story that she would love to appear in 'Minecraft 2', the sequel to the record-breaking video game adaptation that remains the top-grossing film of the year. The choice is personal, too — her two young sons, Ennis (7) and James (4), are big fans of the first movie.
Kirsten Dunst admitted that her career goals today are less about chasing prestige and more about finding a project that performs well financially. After decades in Hollywood, she is candid about wanting to finally star in a film that doesn’t put her in the red.

Speaking Out on Pay Disparity
This isn’t the first time Kirsten Dunst has spoken about money in the industry. In past interviews, including a 2024 conversation with the BBC, she reflected on how little she understood about salary negotiations early in her career. She explained that as a teenager headlining movies like 'Bring It On', she accepted major pay gaps between herself and male co-stars without realising she could question it.
Even though her box office track record often outshone her counterparts, she said she never knew there was room to push back. Looking back now, Dunst hopes her experiences can help younger actresses demand fairer treatment.
New Projects and Collaborations
Dunst’s latest film, 'Roofman', directed by Derek Cianfrance, hits theatres on 10th October. The crime drama stars Channing Tatum as Jeffrey Manchester, an ex-Army Ranger who pulls off a string of unusual McDonald’s robberies before escaping prison and hiding in a toy store. Dunst plays Leigh, a single mother who becomes entangled in his story as romance and danger collide.

Kirsten Dunst also has several upcoming projects, including another collaboration with longtime creative partner Sofia Coppola. The two previously worked together on acclaimed films like ‘The Virgin Suicides’ and ‘Marie Antoinette’. Coppola praised Dunst for her fearless role choices and ability to bring emotional honesty to the screen.
In addition, Kirsten Dunst is preparing for a mermaid thriller alongside ‘Anora’ star Mikey Madison, marking yet another bold step in her diverse filmography.
Looking Ahead
From her early days in 'Interview with the Vampire' and 'Jumanji' to her breakout in Sam Raimi's 'Spider-Man' trilogy, Kirsten Dunst has continually reinvented herself in Hollywood. Now at 43, she balances motherhood with a career that spans genres and generations. Whether it’s joining 'Minecraft 2' or embracing challenging dramatic roles, Kirsten Dunst remains one of the most versatile actresses working today — and she's determined that the next chapter will finally pay off.
