Kit Harington on Why ‘Game Of Thrones’ Final Was Rushed: “We Were So Tired”
The final season of ‘Game of Thrones’ left many fans feeling disappointed, and Kit Harington, who portrayed the beloved Jon Snow, has finally shared his thoughts on why the season played out as it did.
After eight years on HBO’s globally successful show, Harington had a mix of positive and negative experiences. On one hand, he gained worldwide fame and met his wife, co-star Rose Leslie, for which he is eternally grateful. On the other hand, he became a target for endless memes and had to endure fans shouting “You know nothing” at him in public. He also had to maintain his iconic curly long hair, despite wanting to move on from the character.

In an interview with GQ, Harington opened up about the challenges the cast faced towards the end of the show. “We were all so tired,” he admitted. “If there was any fault with the end of ‘Thrones,’ it was that we were too exhausted to keep going.”
He acknowledged that the final season felt rushed to fans, but explained that there was no other option. “I look at pictures of myself from that last season, and I look exhausted. I didn’t have another season in me,” he confessed.
Addressing the backlash, particularly regarding the last episode, Harington admitted that some mistakes were made with the story and that certain bold decisions didn’t pan out as expected. However, he emphasised that everyone is entitled to their opinion.
Harington was among the cast members most eager to move on from the Jon Snow era. It was, therefore, surprising when HBO approached him with the idea of a spin-off series centred on Jon Snow, titled ‘Snow.’
“It was HBO that came to me and said, ‘Would you consider this?’” Harington revealed. Initially, he was hesitant but later saw potential in exploring the life of a soldier after the war. However, after years of development, he ultimately decided to step back from the project. “I think if we push this any further, we could end up with something that’s not good. And that’s the last thing we all want,” he concluded.
