Kristen Stewart says her connection to Princess Diana has never really faded since portraying the late royal in the film 'Spencer.'
In a new interview published recently, the 35-year-old actress shared that Diana continues to stay with her long after the cameras stopped rolling. She explained that whenever she's driving around London, or even Paris, she can't help but think about Diana and the life she lived. Stewart spoke emotionally about the overwhelming love Diana inspired, admitting that she can still feel moved to tears thinking about her. Princess Diana died in a car accident in Paris in 1997 when she was just 36 years old.

Kristen Stewart's 'Spencer'
Kristen Stewart starred as the Princess of Wales in the 2021 film 'Spencer,' directed by Pablo Larraín and written by Stephen Knight. The movie reimagines Christmas 1991, a turning point when Diana's marriage to Prince Charles was unravelling as she spent the holiday with the royal family.
Looking back, Stewart admitted she initially questioned the decision to cast her in the role. She felt she was physically very different from Diana, pointing out details like height and eye colour. However, Larraín reassured her that the role was never about looks, but about capturing Diana's spirit.
Her performance earned widespread praise and led to a Best Actress nomination at the 2022 Academy Awards.

Kristen Stewart Relates to Diana's
Kristen Stewart also reflected on how deeply she related to Diana's experience with intense public scrutiny. She described Diana as someone relentlessly pursued by paparazzi, whose rebellious side came from vulnerability and desperation. Stewart said that the level of constant attention can drain a person emotionally, and by the end of filming, she felt emptied out, much like she believes Diana did during that time in her life.
In past interviews, Kristen Stewart has said that Diana had a rare ability to make people feel good, even during moments filled with sadness and turmoil. Stepping into her world, even briefly, allowed Stewart to grow personally and emotionally. She described the experience as transformative, saying that trying to embody Diana's warmth and light changed her in lasting ways.
