Kristen Stewart says she would be excited to direct a remake of 'Twilight' and is fully on board with the idea.

The 35-year-old actress shared her thoughts while speaking with Entertainment Tonight at Variety's 10 Directors to Watch and Creative Impact Awards in Palm Springs recently. Stewart was honoured at the event following the release of her directorial debut, 'The Chronology of Water,' which arrived in 2025.

Kristen Stewart on 'Twilight' Franchise

When asked about reimagining the beloved vampire franchise, Stewart made it clear she has deep respect for the original films and their directors, including Catherine Hardwicke, Chris Weitz, and others who helped shape the series. She described the movies as unique, raw, and reflective of a moment before the franchise became a global phenomenon.

Kristen Stewart said a remake could be exciting if it were backed by a large budget and strong creative support. With the right resources and freedom, she believes revisiting the story could feel fresh and meaningful, and she confirmed she would be willing to take on the challenge as a director.

The 'Twilight' films launched Stewart into superstardom when she played Bella Swan across five movies released between 2008 and 2012. She starred alongside Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner, and an ensemble cast in adaptations of Stephenie Meyer's bestselling novels. The franchise featured multiple directors, with Hardwicke helming the first film and Bill Condon directing the two-part finale, 'Breaking Dawn.'

Stewart has previously spoken about watching Hardwicke direct the original film, noting how difficult it was to maintain a personal vision while managing enormous expectations and countless creative voices.

Now stepping confidently into directing, Stewart says her entire career has led to this moment. Having worked on film sets since childhood, she feels she is finally carving out space for herself behind the camera. Her first feature as a director, 'The Chronology of Water,' is currently playing in theatres.
