Kylie Jenner Says She Asked Charli XCX for a Role in 'The Moment'

Kylie Jenner didn't just land a role in 'The Moment'—she made it happen herself.

The 28-year-old reality star appears as a playful, fictional version of herself in the A24 satire inspired by the frenzy surrounding Charli xcx's 2024 album 'Brat.' During a joint Instagram video interview recently with Charli, 33, and director Aidan Zamiri, Jenner shared how it all began.

Kylie Jenner Shared How She Joined 'The Moment' 

She recalled that she and Charli were on a flight together when Charli started talking about the movie. Jenner said she believes strongly in both Charli and Zamiri, and during that conversation, she suggested the idea of being part of the project.

Charli xcx jumped in to reveal that Kylie Jenner basically told her to put her in the film—and Kylie happily agreed that was pretty much how it went.

Zamiri remembered Kylie saying she wanted to step outside her comfort zone and try something new, something she has clearly been doing more of lately. Kylie Jenner explained that she had already become familiar with Zamiri's work through the music videos he directed for Charli, as well as for artists like Billie Eilish and PinkPantheress. When the opportunity came up, she told them that if they wanted her in the film, she would show up. 

At the film's premiere in late January, Kylie joked that she is not actually mean in real life, despite how her character comes across onscreen. Zamiri praised her for being willing to poke fun at her public image.

Kylie Jenner Shares Experience on Filming Process

Kylie Jenner admitted she felt nervous before filming began. While she is used to being in front of cameras, acting in a movie was completely new territory. After the first take, though, she felt much more confident. She considered hiring an acting coach but ultimately decided against it since she was playing herself and only appears briefly in the film. Instead, she practised with friends and family, which helped boost her confidence.

Charli xcx recently shared at a Q&A in Brooklyn that she loved filming Kylie's scene. The movie's first scene was shot with Rachel Sennott, and the final day of filming featured Kylie Jenner, which Charli described as ending the project with two legends playing themselves. She said Kylie's scene felt easy and natural, adding that Kylie Jenner fully embraced the moment and had fun with it.

'The Moment,' which also stars Kate Berlant, Rosanna Arquette and Alexander Skarsgård, is now playing in theatres.
