The Cannes Film Festival also made headlines with the appointment of Greta Gerwig, director of ‘Barbie’, as the jury president, underscoring the festival’s commitment to diversity and innovation in filmmaking. Dupieux’s journey in filmmaking began after a successful career as a French electronic artist under the pseudonym Mr. Oizo. His transition to screenwriting and directing brought forth a series of music videos and quirky features that garnered attention and critical acclaim.

Films like ‘Rubber’, known for its unconventional premise of a killer tyre and ‘Wrong,’ which premiered at Sundance, solidified Dupieux’s reputation as a filmmaker unafraid to venture into uncharted storytelling territories.

‘Le Deuxième Acte’ follows in the footsteps of Dupieux’s previous Cannes entries, such as ‘Deerskin’, which opened the Directors’ Fortnight, and ‘Smoking Causes Coughing’, showcased out of competition.
