Leonardo DiCaprio Cast in Frank Sinatra Biopic, With Martin Scorsese to Direct

Martin Scorsese is gearing up to tackle a biopic about Frank Sinatra, teaming up once again with his longtime collaborator Leonardo DiCaprio, as per reports.

Variety has spilled the beans, stating that the director of ‘Killers Of The Flower Moon’ is eyeing to shoot the Sinatra project in tandem with an adaptation of Shūsaku Endō’s 1973 book ‘Life Of Jesus.’ Rumour has it, that he’s keen on roping in DiCaprio to portray Sinatra and Jennifer Lawrence to play his second wife, actress Ava Gardner.

Big studios are already buzzing with interest. Apple, who backed the $215 million budget for ‘Killers Of The Flower Moon,’ has shown interest, but Sony seems to be leading the race for the project.

However, any plans for the biopic are still up in the air as Sinatra’s daughter Tina, who oversees her father’s estate, hasn’t given the green light yet. This is particularly due to the inclusion of the woman Sinatra had an affair with while being married to her mother Nancy Barbato. On another note, Variety suggests Scorsese was considering self-financing ‘Life Of Jesus.’

He had his sights set on Andrew Garfield for the lead, with Miles Teller also in the mix. Filming is slated to kick off later this year, with locations spanning Egypt, Italy and Israel, despite the logistical hurdles posed by the current conflict with Hamas. Scorsese’s representatives have opted to stay mum on the matter.
