Leonardo DiCaprio Says He’s “Annoyed” by Margot Robbie’s ‘Barbie’ Success

Leonardo DiCaprio and Margot Robbie co-starred in ‘The Wolf of Wall Street’ a decade ago but found themselves as fierce competitors in 2023. The irony wasn’t lost on DiCaprio, especially given the huge success of ‘Barbie,’ which swept most of the major awards last year.

An insider noted that while ‘Barbie’ has been a big draw, reviving audiences’ interest in cinemas, it’s not the type of film Leo is drawn to. He even considered it highly overrated. Despite Margot Robbie’s global success in 2023, DiCaprio also starred in ‘Killers of the Flower Moon,’ directed by Martin Scorsese.

However, sources revealed that the ‘Titanic’ actor felt overshadowed by the success of ‘Barbie’ and grew frustrated. “It was particularly frustrating after all the years of work they put into the movie, which didn’t receive nearly the credit Leo felt it deserved,” the source explained. “It’s his worst nightmare that Margot, of all people, is behind it.”

Furthermore, the source disclosed that DiCaprio never anticipated competing for awards with ‘Barbie.’ The duo first appeared together in 2013’s ‘The Wolf of Wall Street,’ which was Robbie’s breakout role. They reunited in 2019’s ‘Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood.’

During the promotion of the latter film, both stars expressed mutual admiration. Robbie often spoke highly of DiCaprio, saying, “I couldn’t believe it happened the first time. Then, when I went to work with Leo again, it was kind of ridiculous.” She has also described him as an “incredible actor” and a “really awesome” person.
