Lewis Capaldi has released a moving new track titled ‘Survive’, marking his first original material since the extended edition of ‘Broken By Desire To Be Heavenly Sent’ in January 2024. The emotionally charged single sees Capaldi reflect on his personal struggles, including his mental health and living with Tourette’s Syndrome, with heartfelt lyrics and a powerful vocal performance.

The release has also intensified speculation around Capaldi’s potential return to Glastonbury Festival 2025, with strong rumours suggesting he may perform a secret set this weekend. Whisperings began when fans noticed billboard adverts featuring lyrics from ‘Survive’ appearing in both Glasgow — Capaldi’s hometown — and Castle Cary, close to the Glastonbury site.

Attention has now turned to a mystery ‘TBA’ slot on the Pyramid Stage at 4:55pm on Friday. With a 35-minute set scheduled before acts like Alanis Morissette, Biffy Clyro, and The 1975, many believe this could mark Capaldi’s triumphant return — possibly as a continuation of his 2023 performance, which he was forced to cut short due to an onstage episode linked to Tourette’s. Despite the interruption, fans helped him finish the set, and the moment received widespread praise and empathy from both audiences and the wider public.

Reflecting on that experience, Capaldi later shared that he needed to take time off to prioritise his health, calling the cancellation of his tour “the most difficult decision of my life”. He explained he was still learning to manage the challenges of Tourette’s and wanted to return only when he felt fully ready.

Mystery Sets and Capaldi Comeback Fuel Glastonbury Buzz

This year’s Glastonbury lineup includes several high-profile mystery performances, with Lorde heavily speculated to take the Woodsies stage and Capaldi believed to fill the Pyramid Stage gap. Elsewhere, acts like The 1975, Olivia Rodrigo, The Prodigy, and Neil Young are set to headline, with other surprises potentially in store — including rumoured sets from Pulp under the name ‘Patchwork’ and HAIM at The Park stage on Saturday.

Whether or not Capaldi steps back onstage at Worthy Farm, ‘Survive’ marks a heartfelt and hopeful return — and hints that the Scottish singer might be ready for his next chapter.
