Liam Gallagher Responds to Dua Lipa Calling Britpop Bands “Obnoxious”

Liam Gallagher has fired back at Dua Lipa’s recent characterization of Britpop bands as “obnoxious.” In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, the ‘Houdini’ singer discussed the influences on her upcoming third album, citing iconic bands like Blur and Oasis.

The pop star hinted that her new record would capture the rebellious spirit of Britpop legends, describing it as embodying the “don’t give a f*ck-ness” attitude. When the interviewer brought up the criticism that Noel Gallagher and Damon Albarn have directed at female artists in the past, Lipa acknowledged the behaviour but suggested separating the art from the person.

While Lipa admitted she hadn’t personally encountered Noel Gallagher or Damon Albarn, she emphasized her connection to the music, acknowledging that some Britpop artists could be obnoxious in their actions. She also critiqued past expectations of rock stars, noting the toxicity in how people perceived their musicians.

Responding to Lipa’s “obnoxious” claim on Twitter, former Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher offered a blunt response: “She’s just jealous.” Without further elaboration, Gallagher spent a considerable amount of time engaging with fan questions on the social platform.
