Dua Lipa Says New Album is Primal Scream And Massive Attack Inspired

Dua Lipa has spilled the beans on her upcoming album, describing it as a “psychedelic-pop-infused tribute to U.K. rave culture.” In a recent Rolling Stone interview, Lipa unveiled the musical influences behind her new record, citing Primal Scream’s ‘Screamadelica’ and Massive Attack as key inspirations.

The Britpop vibes of Oasis and Blur, coupled with the ’90s sound of Moby and Gorillaz, have also played a significant role in shaping the album’s eclectic sound.

According to Lipa, the album captures a raw and youthful essence, aiming to reflect the carefree spirit of having fun and embracing life’s ups and downs. In an interview, she mentioned a nerve-wracking encounter with Tame Impala’s Kevin Parker, whom she admires. The collaboration with Parker, along with Caroline Ailin, Danny L Harle, and Tobias Jesso Jr., resulted in eight out of the 11 tracks on the album.

Lipa opened up about the challenges of expanding her creative circle as her career soared, admitting that the fear of vulnerability increased with success. Despite the hurdles, the singer emphasized the importance of staying true to herself.
