Lily Gladstone Describes The Golden Globes as ‘Squid Game’

In a recent interview on ‘The Kelly Clarkson Show,’ actress Emily Gladstone shared some candid thoughts about attending awards shows. Known for her stellar performance in ‘Killers of The Flower Moon,’ Gladstone didn’t hold back. “The Globes was a little bit like ‘Squid Game’,” she remarked. “I mean the reality is, you’re in shapewear, you need to pee, you have commercial breaks but that’s the only time that you’re able to do it.”

Despite the discomfort, Gladstone found some silver linings. “Meeting people is the fun part of it,” she added. “So, it’s just a mad scramble and that’s the time when you get to like jam in meeting idols like, you know, Meryl Streep. Of course, that part is not bad.”

For those who haven’t seen it, ‘Squid Game’ is a popular Netflix K-drama where contestants compete in deadly playground games for a massive cash prize. Gladstone’s comparison highlights the chaotic and high-pressure environment of award shows.

Gladstone’s career is set to continue its upward trajectory. She’s slated to star alongside Isabel Deroy-Olson in the upcoming film ‘Fancy Dance.’ The film tells the story of a Native American aunt-niece duo searching for their missing relative on Oklahoma’s Seneca-Cayuga reservation. Directed by Native American filmmaker Erica Tremblay, known for documentaries like ‘In The Turn,’ ‘Fancy Dance’ promises to be a poignant and powerful story.

Emily Gladstone’s performance as Mollie Kyle in Martin Scorsese’s ‘Killers of The Flower Moon’ has earned her widespread acclaim. She made history as the first Native American actress to win Best Female Actor at the Golden Globes. In her acceptance speech, she dedicated her award to “every little rez kid, every little urban kid, every little Native kid out there who has a dream who is seeing themselves represented, and our stories told by ourselves, in our own words with tremendous allies and tremendous trust.”

She was also nominated for an Oscar for Best Actress.
