Lindsay Lohan is making headlines once again—not just for her return to the spotlight in 'Freakier Friday', but for her candid reflections on the challenges she's faced in being typecast. While the actor rose to fame in the early 2000s through beloved comedies like 'The Parent Trap', 'Mean Girls', and the original 'Freaky Friday', she’s now voicing her desire to break out of the comedic mould and take on more prestigious, dramatic roles.

Lindsay Lohan Expresses Her Dream

Currently promoting 'Freakier Friday', set to release on 8th August, Lindsay Lohan has opened up about her career path and the obstacles that come with being known primarily for lighthearted films. Despite having taken on more serious roles in projects like the 2006 ensemble drama 'Bobby' and Robert Altman’s 'A Prairie Home Companion'—where she acted alongside legends like Meryl Streep—Lohan feels she still needs to push hard to be considered for dramatic work.

She expressed that, while she was grateful for the chance to work on 'A Prairie Home Companion', it's been an ongoing struggle to secure similar opportunities, emphasising her readiness and ability to take on more complex roles. Her ultimate ambition? To one day work with Martin Scorsese—an opportunity she says she would absolutely embrace.

What Films Inspire Lindsay Lohan?

Lindsay Lohan also shared the kind of films that inspire her, pointing to classics like 'All About Eve' and 'Breakfast at Tiffany’s' as examples of the character-driven, story-rich cinema she’s eager to explore. She believes there’s a current void in the film industry for this style of storytelling and sees herself as part of the solution, hoping to create work that fills that gap.

The actress is already enjoying a strong resurgence in her career. Her recent Netflix Christmas film, 'Our Little Secret', ranked among the top five most-watched movies on the platform last year, reaffirming her broad audience appeal. Now, 'Freakier Friday' sees her reunited with Jamie Lee Curtis, her co-star from the 2003 classic. The sequel even revives the fictional band Pink Slip, with the pair recording new music to accompany the film.

As Lindsay Lohan steps into this new chapter, she's clearly setting her sights higher than ever—seeking roles that challenge her, redefine her image, and potentially bring her into collaboration with some of cinema’s most respected directors.
