Mark Hamill believes Ryan Gosling is more than capable of carrying the 'Star Wars' legacy without any help from him.

While appearing at the SCAD Savannah Film Festival on 29th October, the 74-year-old 'Star Wars' legend expressed admiration for Gosling's work and said he doesn't feel the actor needs any advice as he steps into a leading role in 'Star Wars: Starfighter.' Hamill, best known for portraying Luke Skywalker, noted that Gosling's talent and charisma make him perfectly suited for the role.

The actor shared that his appreciation for Ryan Gosling deepened after seeing the Oscar-nominated star perform in a 'Saturday Night Live' sketch earlier this year. In the April 2024 episode, Gosling and Mikey Day portrayed Beavis and Butt-Head, a performance Mark Hamill described as the best live-action version of the animated character he’s ever seen.

Reflecting on his own journey in the galaxy far, far away, Mark Hamill admitted that the new generation of actors and filmmakers no longer needs guidance from the original cast. Instead, he feels it's time to step back and let the next wave of 'Star Wars' storytellers take the spotlight.

More on 'Star Wars: Starfighter'

Meanwhile, 'Star Wars: Starfighter' is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated entries in the franchise's next chapter. Levy recently shared a behind-the-scenes image on Instagram showing Gosling and young actor Flynn Gray filming on location in the Mediterranean. The film also stars Amy Adams, Mia Goth, Matt Smith, Aaron Pierre, Simon Bird, Daniel Ings, and Jamael Westman.
