Miley Cyrus Calls Working With Beyoncé on ‘II Most Wanted’ a “Dream Come True”

In a recent cover story interview with W Magazine, the pop star opened up about the experience of writing and performing ‘II Most Wanted’ with the ‘All Night’ artist. Cyrus described the collaboration as a “dream come true,” reflecting on how the song came to life and what it means to her.

Cyrus revealed that she wrote the song about two and a half years ago, with her mother frequently expressing her love for it. When Beyoncé reached out to her about working on music together, Cyrus immediately thought of this song, believing it truly encompasses their relationship. She shared that she told Beyoncé, “We don’t have to get country; we are country. We’ve been a country.”

Highlighting their shared backgrounds, she mentioned, “Between you being from Texas and me being from Tennessee, so many of us are going to be in this song.”

Writing a song for Beyoncé, rather than just performing it, was a pinnacle moment for Cyrus. She expressed how fulfilling it was to contribute creatively to Beyoncé’s music, describing the entire experience as a dream come true.

In the interview, Cyrus also mentioned that texting with Beyoncé has become a regular part of her daily life. The song ‘II Most Wanted’, featured on Beyoncé’s latest album Cowboy Carter, is an uplifting duet that explores the devotion between two people in a relationship, incorporating an interpolation of Fleetwood Mac’s 1975 classic ‘Landslide’.

Cyrus opens the track with heartfelt lyrics: ‘Know we’re jumpin’ the gun, but we’re both still young / One day, we won’t be / Didn’t know what I want ’til I saw your face / Say goodbye to the old me.” The verses are traded between Cyrus and the “Partition” performer, creating a dynamic and engaging dialogue within the song.

The duo joins forces on the chorus, harmonising beautifully: “I’ll be your shotgun rider ’til the day I die / Smoke out the window, flyin’ down the 405 / I’ll be your backseat baby, drivin’ you crazy / Anytime you like / I’ll be your shotgun rider ’til the day I, ’til the day I die.” This collaboration showcases the synergy between the two artists, making ‘II Most Wanted’ a standout track on the album.
