Miley Cyrus Shares Heartwarming Fax Messages From Godmother Dolly Parton

Miley Cyrus has revealed the touching and unique way she stays connected with her godmother, Dolly Parton. In a new cover story interview with W Magazine, the 31-year-old pop star opened up about the sweet fax messages she receives from the legendary country singer and a memorable Christmas gift Parton gave her.

“Dolly’s been like a mother to me,” Cyrus shared, recalling a heartfelt fax from Parton she received two Mother’s Days ago. She explained Parton’s distinct preference for using fax machines: “No one else faxes. I literally have to access my lawyer’s office, because the lawyer is the only person who can still receive a fax.”

One particular message from Parton left a lasting impression on Cyrus. “Dolly wrote to me to say: ‘How much do I love you? As much as my heart can hold and as far as my arms can reach.’ It gets me choked up,” Cyrus recounted. “I just love her so much. Last Christmas, she gave me a whole mannequin, done in her proportions and wearing her outfit. It’s so major.”

Parton, 78, has previously explained her commitment to fax machines in an interview on ‘The View’, stating that she prefers to avoid the constant connectivity of modern technology. “I’m surrounded by enough people,” she said, expressing her desire to keep her communication methods simple.

“Kenny Rogers used to aggravate me about it,” Parton shared. “I said, ‘Look, I’ll send you a message by carrier pigeon if I need to get in touch with you. You always seem to know how to reach me when you want something!'”

“So I actually never did get involved in all that because it’ll take up too much of my time if I tried to get in touch with everybody who is trying to get in touch with me,” she continued. “So I just say, ‘Fax me! Fax me or call me and I’ll call you back.’”

Fellow country icon Reba McEntire also mentioned using fax to communicate with Parton. During an interview with Apple Music’s Southern Accents Radio in 2022, McEntire shared, “You don’t call Dolly, you fax her. You fax your people and your people talk to her people. That’s the only way I know to get a hold of her.”
