Miley Cyrus has officially solidified her status in the Hollywood film scene. Recently, the 33-year-old singer joined a star-studded crowd at the 37th annual Palm Springs International Film Festival gala. She was there to take home the Outstanding Artistic Achievement Award for her song, 'Dream as One,' which fans can hear during the credits of James Cameron's latest blockbuster, 'Avatar: Fire and Ash.'
Miley Cyrus's Acceptance Speech
While accepting her trophy from actor Jack Champion, Miley kept the mood light with her signature humour. She teased the audience about the irony of her being honoured alongside a crew that spent 16 years bringing the movie to life, while she had only been involved for about a month. The crowd loved the self-deprecating jab as she noted how lucky she felt to attend the same prestigious events despite her much shorter timeline.

After stepping onto the stage, Cyrus even sang a few notes along with the live orchestra, pausing to tell the musicians how incredible they sounded.
Miley Cyrus on Her 'Dream as One' Song
The song itself was a collaborative effort with heavy hitters like Mark Ronson, Andrew Wyatt, and Simon Franglen. During her speech, Miley explained that she is always trying to reinvent her sound. She shared that her goal is to tell honest stories that still provide a sense of fantasy and escape for listeners. She described the chance to work with James Cameron and her fellow songwriters as a once-in-a-lifetime joy.
She also made sure to give credit where it was due, thanking the entire film team for being so welcoming. In another funny moment, she admitted she felt like she was simply backpacking off of all the hard work they had put in over the years.

Cyrus didn't stop with the jokes there. While she complimented the gala for being a sophisticated and beautiful party, she couldn't help but notice the lack of drag queens in the room. To fix that, she told the audience she'd be stopping by Toucans on her drive back to L.A. to get her fix of glamour.
Story Behind Miley Cyrus's Song
Behind the music is a very personal story. Miley previously shared that the lyrics about unity and overcoming tragedy were inspired by her own journey of rebuilding her life after losing her Malibu home in the 2018 wildfires. Festival Chairman Nachhattar Singh Chandi praised her as a powerhouse in the industry, noting that her contribution to the 'Avatar' soundtrack is already a massive success with fans.
Miley Cyrus wasn't the only big name at the gala; she shared the night with other major honorees, including Leonardo DiCaprio, Timothée Chalamet, and Adam Sandler.
