Jacob Elordi has clearly earned high praise from Margot Robbie, especially when it comes to thoughtful romantic gestures.

The co-stars of the upcoming 'Wuthering Heights' film adaptation, based on Emily Brontë's 1847 novel, recently spoke with Vogue Australia about their experience working together and the meaningful moments they shared behind the scenes. In the film, Robbie and Elordi portray Catherine and Heathcliff, childhood friends whose love story is complicated by social class and circumstance.

Margot Robbie on Jacob Elordi's Valentine's Day Surprise

Robbie, 35, shared that Elordi, 28, went above and beyond with a Valentine's Day surprise while they were filming. The gesture left her convinced that her co-star would make a perfect boyfriend.

While shooting on Valentine's Day, Jacob Elordi transformed Robbie's room with an abundance of roses, all in character as Heathcliff. The surprise also included a handwritten note from his character's perspective and a small tombstone prop, both symbolic of the dramatic story they were bringing to life on screen.

Jacob Elordi later joked that Margot Robbie did not plan anything special for him that day, but he was not disappointed. He felt proud of his effort, and Robbie openly agreed, calling his gesture unforgettable. She said the care, creativity, and emotional depth behind the surprise stood out, describing it as thoughtful, dramatic, and meaningful.

What made the moment even more special was that Elordi was not originally scheduled to be on set that day. He went out of his way to find out when Robbie would be filming and came in on his day off to pull off the surprise.

In a separate interview with Fandango earlier this month, Elordi reflected on how real the emotional connection between their characters sometimes felt. He described moments when they were running hand in hand through the moors, even while setting up scenes, and briefly locking eyes. In those moments, he said, it truly felt like Catherine and Heathcliff were looking at each other, allowing them to tap into the deep, unfulfilled love at the heart of Brontë's story.

Margot Robbie has been married to her husband, Tom Ackerley, since 2016, while Jacob Elordi recently ended his relationship with Olivia Jade Gianulli in the fall of 2025.

'Wuthering Heights' arrives in theatres on 13th February, just in time for Valentine's Day.
