Miley Cyrus Releases Dance-Pop Cover of Talking Heads’ Classic ‘Psycho Killer’; Listen Now!

At midnight, the ‘Flowers’ singer released a pop-infused cover of Talking Heads’ 1977 hit ‘Psycho Killer’. This new rendition is featured on the ‘Everyone’s Getting Involved: A Tribute to Talking Heads’ Stop Making Sense’ compilation album, a tribute to the iconic new wave band.

Cyrus’ version of ‘Psycho Killer’ transforms the eerie original into a dance track, complete with ’80s synth sounds, a party-like atmosphere, and her distinct faded vocals.

She first hinted at this cover with a country-style rendition during an intimate set at Los Angeles’ Chateau Marmont, as captured in fan footage. Midway through her performance, she playfully transitioned into the song’s famous chorus.

Earlier in the year, Cyrus teamed up with Talking Heads co-founder David Byrne during her annual New Year’s Eve special, where they performed tracks like David Bowie’s ‘Let’s Dance’ and Byrne’s ‘Everybody’s Coming to My House’.

The tribute album also features contributions from artists such as The National, Blondshell, The Linda Lindas, El Mato, Paramore, DJ Tunez, Teezo Touchdown, Jean Dawson, The Cavemen, BADBADNOTGOOD, Kevin Abstract, Toro y Moi, Girl in Red, Lorde, and Chicano Batman.

Fresh off her recent Grammy wins, the ‘Prisoner’ musician released her first single of the year, ‘Doctor (Work It Out)’, produced by Pharrell Williams. She also appeared on Beyoncé’s country album Cowboy Carter with the duet track ‘II Most Wanted’, which peaked at No. 6 on the Billboard Hot 100. Reflecting on this collaboration, Cyrus expressed her deep admiration for Beyoncé, which has only grown through their creative partnership.
