Country star Miranda Lambert has announced her highly anticipated new album, Postcards From Texas, featuring 14 tracks set to captivate fans. Alongside the album reveal, Lambert has introduced her latest single, ‘Alimony’, a bluesy divorce anthem that showcases her signature style. The track includes bold lyrics like, "I called that lawyer up in Dallas, the one who’s livin’ in that palace / So I know he’s good at winning’, if you think there’s somethin’ that you’re missin'." Lambert’s confident delivery and the song’s upbeat shuffle reflect her aim to blend humour and heartache.
Lambert described her vision for the song, emphasizing her desire for a shuffle rhythm that resonates with audiences. She mentioned, "Everybody loves a shuffle," highlighting the track's upbeat and accessible nature. Drawing on personal experiences, Lambert noted that her parents, who worked as private investigators in Dallas, frequently handled divorce cases. This background made the songwriting process feel natural, as she had long been familiar with the themes addressed in ‘Alimony’.

The song intentionally incorporates Texas metaphors, a choice Lambert explained as a way to add humour to a challenging subject. She commented, "We used every Texas metaphor we could come up with on purpose; we wanted to take something kind of s---ty and put some humour back in it. I mean, the guy gets out pretty easily if all he does is move back in with his mom." This playful approach reflects Lambert’s knack for infusing lightheartedness into serious topics.
In a previous interview, Lambert revealed that her upcoming album would embrace a traditional country sound. She shared, "I made this record in Texas. I hadn't made an album in Texas since I was 18," emphasizing the significance of returning to her roots. Working at Arlyn Studios in Austin with longtime friend, co-writer, and co-producer Jon Randall, Lambert found the process inspiring and aligned with her new chapter.
The move to Texas for the album’s production felt particularly fitting for Lambert, who expressed her excitement about collaborating with Republic Records. "This new team has just given me so much fire and inspiration because it's all about the music with them," she said, highlighting the creative boost from her fresh partnership.
Lambert previously teased her forthcoming album with the release of ‘Wranglers’, giving fans an early glimpse of what to expect from ‘Postcards From Texas’. The combination of Lambert’s personal touches and her return to her Texas roots promises a compelling addition to her musical repertoire.
