New Details Emerge About Prince William and Kate Middleton’s Dating Life
Fresh revelations about Prince William and Princess Kate’s early relationship have come to light, thanks to royal biographer Robert Jobson’s latest book, ‘Catherine, the Princess of Wales.’ Set for release on August 6, the book provides an intimate look into how the couple’s bond was formed at the University of St. Andrews in the autumn of 2001, well before their royal wedding in 2011.
Jobson, known for his close connections within the royal circle, shares that both William and Kate were involved with other people when they first met. However, as their friendship grew, they became inseparable, often seen walking to classes together, shopping at the local grocery store, or enjoying quiet evenings at home with music. “Among the student community, it was an open secret that they were a couple,” Jobson reveals.

An interesting twist in their love story involves William’s ex-girlfriend, who unwittingly pushed them to publicly acknowledge their relationship. During a typical college party filled with games like Beer Pong and Spin the Bottle, Carly Massy-Birch, William’s ex, made a bold move. According to Jobson, during a game of Never Have I Ever, Massy-Birch declared, “I’ve never dated two people in this room,” clearly referencing William and Kate.
This unexpected announcement left everyone stunned. A party guest recounted to royal biographer Katie Nicholl, in her book ‘The Making of a Royal Romance,’ that William gave Massy-Birch a cold stare, whispering that he couldn’t believe she had said that. This incident marked the first public confirmation of William and Kate’s relationship.
Despite the initial tension, the situation didn’t escalate. Massy-Birch was even invited to William and Kate’s royal wedding, along with several other of William’s former girlfriends.
Currently, William and Kate are navigating challenging times due to Kate’s recent cancer diagnosis. In March, the Princess of Wales announced her health condition following planned abdominal surgery. She expressed her gratitude for William’s unwavering support during this period and highlighted their efforts to prepare their children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, for the news.
Despite the difficulties, Princess Catherine has been active recently, attending events such as the Wimbledon Men’s final in July and the King’s official birthday ceremony.
