Millie Bobby Brown is officially beginning a daring new chapter in her life and career. Entering final negotiations to direct and produce the upcoming biopic 'Perfect,' the 'Stranger Things' star is making her biggest career move to date after having a mother. The movie, which will focus on Olympic gymnast Kerri Strug's iconic 1996 vault, is a significant turning point in Brown's acting career. With Gia Coppola directing and Netflix showing interest in the movie, 'Perfect' is already creating buzz as a part that will define the young actress's career.
A New Chapter: Motherhood and Ambition
A very personal milestone for the actress was reached earlier this summer when Millie Bobby Brown and her husband Jake Bongiovi secretly welcomed a baby girl through adoption. "I want to focus on truly establishing myself as an actor and as a producer, but I also believe it's very important to start a family," Brown said, indicating that her acting profession remains a top priority even as she embraces motherhood.

Less than a season later, she seems prepared to take a bold step into a more demanding, serious job that might completely change her Hollywood career path.
Stepping Into the Shoes of a Sports Legend
Brown is reportedly in final negotiations to play Olympic gymnast Kerri Strug in the Gia Coppola-directed and Ronnie Sandahl-written biopic 'Perfect.' The project is anticipated to begin production in the spring of 2026, and Netflix is in negotiations to purchase and release the movie. Brown is working alongside Nik Bower (Riverstone Pictures) and Thomas Benski (Magna Studios) as a producer under her PMCA label in addition to her role as an actor in 'Perfect.'

The 1996 U.S. women's gymnastics team, known as the "Magnificent Seven," is the subject of this biopic, which culminates with Strug's final vault. Strug performed the gold-winning vault for Team USA despite having a seriously wounded ankle. She subsequently slumped in agony and was helped off the mat by her coach, a moment that is now part of Olympic legend. Brown will need to represent the emotional fortitude and strains of that momentous occasion in addition to the physical challenges of gymnastics.
What It Means for Brown's Career
This move marks Brown's desire to escape genre categorization. Through 'Stranger Things,' the 'Enola Holmes' movies, 'Damsel,' and 'The Electric State,' she has already worked with Netflix frequently; 'Perfect' would expand that collaboration into a more established, award-focused realm. Other performers who embraced biographical roles and marked a turning point are already being compared: Margot Robbie's I, 'Tonya' is frequently brought up.

'Perfect' might prove to be a pivotal moment in showing Brown's variety as she completes her final season as Eleven in 'Stranger Things' (which will be released in three parts later this year) and works on other Netflix projects like 'Just Picture It.' Now that parenthood is a part of who she is, this next stage shows that she is prepared to push the envelope creatively and show that she can handle challenging parts both in front of and behind the camera.
