Pamela Anderson is exploring the idea of reinventing her identity by reclaiming a part of her family history. In a recent conversation with Vogue Scandinavia, the actress and 'Naked Gun' star reflected on her growing desire to honour her Finnish heritage by adopting her family's original surname.

Anderson explained that there are moments when she no longer feels connected to the name the world knows her by and that she sometimes imagines herself as Pamela Hyytiäinen, the surname belonging to her Finnish grandfather, Herman Hyytiäinen. She revealed that she has even looked into the possibility of making the change official, but said the process has proven difficult. Her grandfather, a logger and poet, was the person she felt closest to while growing up, and the idea of sharing his name carries deep personal meaning for her.

Why Pamela Anderson Wants to Redefine Herself?

The thought of redefining herself also appeals to Anderson's long-standing love for personal evolution. She reflected on the many versions of herself she has explored throughout her life and described her ongoing journey as one that often requires stripping everything back and beginning again.

In recent years, Pamela Anderson has experienced a major professional resurgence. Her Netflix documentary 'Pamela, A Love Story' reintroduced her to audiences with a more intimate perspective, and her critically acclaimed performance in the indie drama 'The Last Showgirl' showcased a new depth in her acting career. She later returned to comedy in 'The Naked Gun,' starring opposite Liam Neeson, which sparked renewed buzz—both for her role and for public speculation about her off-screen life.

Pamela Anderson's Inspiration

Despite decades in the spotlight, Pamela Anderson has spoken openly about drawing artistic inspiration from the ups and downs of her personal journey. She previously reflected that the unpredictability and imperfections of her life have provided powerful material for her craft. Looking back, she acknowledged moments where she wished she had made different choices, but also emphasised that those experiences shaped her ability to reflect and grow.

She has also described 'The Last Showgirl' as a turning point—an opportunity to prove her range nearly forty years into her career. Anderson admitted that she once feared she had been underestimated or too easily defined by past perceptions, but she now feels driven to be known for her work rather than the circumstances she has lived through.

As she embraces this new era, the idea of adopting her family name represents more than a change in identity—it symbolises a reclamation of heritage, creativity, and self-definition.
