Rebel Wilson Accused of Fabricating Lies by Film Producers

Rebel Wilson finds herself embroiled in a legal tussle after being accused of spreading "vicious lies" by the producers of her film, 'The Deb.' The controversy erupted following Wilson's Instagram video, where she accused the producers of inappropriate behaviour and financial misconduct.

The producers Amanda Ghost, Gregor Cameron, and Vince Holden filed an amended complaint in Los Angeles, disputing Wilson's claims. They alleged that Wilson was frequently absent from the set and had shared confidential information about the film. The complaint further asserts that Wilson fabricated these allegations out of "actual malice" following a disagreement over film credits.

The complaint, as reported by Variety, criticises Wilson for allegedly deflecting blame onto the producers to cover up her professional shortcomings. The document claims that Wilson has a history of making false accusations to advance her interests. It also addresses allegations Wilson made against Sacha Baron Cohen, which she initially mentioned in her memoir, 'Rebel Rising,' describing it as her "worst professional experience."

In the UK version of her memoir, details of the alleged incident were replaced with a vague reference, following what Cohen's team described as a "clear victory" in disputing the claims. Cohen's representatives provided evidence, including film footage and eyewitness accounts, contradicting Wilson's allegations. They stated that HarperCollins, the publisher, had not fact-checked the claims before publication, leading to redactions in the UK and Australian editions.

The lawsuit from the producers of 'The Deb' also accuses Wilson of attempting to secure undue credits and make unreasonable demands. They claim she resurrected a false narrative about Amanda Ghost's alleged misconduct when her demands were not met, despite the alleged victim's denials of any wrongdoing.

Wilson responded to the lawsuit on her Instagram Stories, dismissing the producers' actions as retaliatory and maintaining her stance on telling the truth.
